  • In the European version of Dojo Domination, the part where the Miis are getting hit has the camera angle changed so you can only see the attackers. Plus, the knocked out Miis will twitch and have flying stars above their heads instead. This is done possibly because that part is too violent for some European countries. Also, in Space Zappers, the aliens are hidden under a glass dome. This is possibly due to shooting anything living is considered too violent.

Other censorship[]

European eShop[]

In November 2012, when the Wii U was launched, viewing pages for PEGI 18-rated content was restricted by the European Nintendo eShop to between 23:00 and 03:00 local time. Users could not view, download, or purchase 18-rated content outside the aforementioned window of time. Users who attempted to do so were greeted with the following message:

You cannot view this content.

The times during which this content can be viewed have been restricted.

The time restriction was independent of the Wii U console's parental controls settings.

Nintendo's European division is based in Germany and imposed these restrictions based on German laws, even though these restrictions were enforced throughout Europe. Nintendo later lifted these restrictions due to protests from European gamers.
