The Thing is a 2002 survival horror game developed by Computer Artworks and published by Black Label Games (aka Vivendi Universal Games) and Konami for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and Windows, the game acts as a sequel to the 1982 movie. Due to the game targeting USK-16 rating, Germany saw a modified version of this game as a result of this.

Censorship[]

Germany censorship[]

  • Blood splatters were reduced.
  • Gore is either reduced or removed.
  • Mutation transformations are shorter.
  • Team members no longer commit suicide.
  • Violence in a few cutscenes were toned down.
  • Most death cry sounds were removed.
  • Headless corpses used as level design were replaced with regular corpses and cut off limbs were removed altogether.
  • Death animations of humans were either toned down or removed entirely.

Where to find it uncensored?[]

The Nightdive remaster is uncensored, and the original 2002 game is uncensored in every country except Germany. However for the PC version, a patch that makes the German version uncensored may exist somewhere.
