The Suffering is a first/third person shooting video game that was developed by Surreal Software and published by Midway Games. The video game was released on March 8, 2004. The European version was slightly censored and the German version censors the violence to avoid being BPjM indexed.

  • Nazi symbols were removed.

Germany censorship[]

  • The European censorship is present here.
  • Blood was removed from the cover art.
  • Corpses part of the level design are not torn apart, but left fully intact instead.
  • Further dismemberment on dead enemies is not possible.
  • Gore was reduced.
  • Blood was removed from a few cutscenes.
  • Some of the more violent moments in the campaign cut to black.
  • The Making Of video and the Psi-Ops trailer were both removed.

Where to find it uncensored[]

The North American version is completely uncensored. And Germans can play the near uncensored European PEGI-rated version with the German language option.
