The Last Of Us censorship - Censored Gaming

The Last of Us is an action adventure video game that was developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The video game was released on June 14, 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and on July 29, 2014 for the PlayStation 4 (under the title The Last of Us Remastered). Due to rating issues in Germany, the entire European release was censored.[1] It was also censored in Japan due to CERO content policies.[2]

European censorship[]

The Japanese and European versions share most of the same censorship but the Japanese version has further edits.

  • Dismemberment is no longer possible in multiplayer mode.
  • Gore was removed from multiplayer mode.

Japanese censorship[]

  • All European censorship applies.
  • Dismemberment was removed in single player mode.
  • Gore was removed from single player mode.
  • The scene that shows a corpse getting butchered in a cutscene was modified for the Japanese release. In the Japanese version, the camera angle was changed so you don't see any detached limbs nor do you see anything getting cut off.

Where to find it uncensored[]

The multiplayer is uncensored in North America and the campaign story is uncensored in every other country outside Japan. The PS5 remake may still be censored in Japan.
