South Park is an American animated series created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone for Comedy Central. It first aired in the United States on August 13, 1997, and is still ongoing. Due to network standards, strong language, crude sexual references and nudity are censored.

Two Season 14 episodes, "200" and "201", were particularly controversial, resulting in Comedy Central demanding censorship before airing them.

  1. Broadcast standards were relaxed with the premiere of this episode in which the words "shit" or "shitty" are said 162 times and written out 38 times. However, the F-word continued to be bleeped out in Comedy Central broadcasts until the premiere of "Oh Jeez" in 2016, which was probably done in error.

• The episode was temporarily banned from reruns due to threats against series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone for its depiction of the prophet Muhammad, even though the character was disguised in a bear suit.

  Muhammad after hiding in an old locker in the episode "201". He is censored.

  Due to threats made against the show's creators from Muslim groups, any scene of the episode that showed the prophet Muhammad was covered with a text block that says "CENSORED".
• In reruns of the episode, when Kyle gives a speech about the effectiveness of threats and violence, it is censored with a continuous bleep censor, resulting in viewers hearing the bleep censor continuously for nearly 40 seconds in lieu of the speech. The crossed out text indicates dialogue that was censored:

  Kyle: That's because there is no goo, Mr. Cruise. You see, I learned something today. Throughout this whole ordeal, we've all wanted to show things that we weren't allowed to show. But it wasn't because of some magic goo. It was because of the magical power of threatening people with violence. That's obviously the only true power. If there's anything we've all learned, it's that terrorizing people works.

  Jesus: That's right. Don't you see, gingers? If you don't want to be made fun of anymore, all you need are guns and bombs to get people to stop.

  Santa: That's right, friends. All you need to do is instill fear, and be willing to hurt people, and you can get whatever you want. The only true power is violence.

• When the episode "201" aired in Canada, the censored Comedy Central version from the United States was shown, due to its depiction of the prophet Muhammad. This surprised some Canadian fans as the episodes typically ran uncensored there.

Chinese censorship

• The show was indefinitely banned in China after mocking the country's government censors with the episode Band in China.

Japanese censorship

  1. This episode is banned in Japan due to its cruel jokes and stereotypes about Japanese people.

Kuwaiti censorship

• The show was banned in Kuwait for making many jokes about Muslims.

  1. In Mexico, this episode was banned due to its portrayal of the then-President of Mexico, Felipe Calderon, as spending space cash in water parks.

Where to find it uncensored?

The DVD releases are completely uncensored. On-Demand streaming platforms carry it uncensored. The Australian Broadcast on 10 Shake is completely uncensored as well. The Canadian version is mostly uncensored (except for the episode "201").

The following episodes are currently unavailable for streaming: "Super Best Friends", "Cartoon Wars Part 1", "Cartoon Wars Part 2", "200", and "201".
