Resident Evil (released as Biohazard in Japan) is a survival horror video game that was developed and published by Capcom. The video game was released on March 22, 1996. The international releases were censored.


North American and European censorship[]

  • The opening live action film was changed to black and white.
    • Any scene with blood or gore were removed.
  • Smoking was removed. (The Director's Cut release has this uncensored)
  • The scene that shows Kenneth J. Sullivan's detached head lying in a pool of blood was cut. (The Director's Cut release has this uncensored)

Where to find it uncensored[]

The Japanese release and GOG release is uncensored.[1] The Director's Cut release is mostly uncensored.
