Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal are Japanese RPG video games that were made by Game Freak and published by Nintendo. Gold and Silver were released on November 21, 1999. Crystal was released on December 14, 2000. Due to Nintendo wanting the international release to be family friendly, sexuality was toned down. Perceived racism resulted in Jynx being modified.

International censorship[]

  • Jynx's skin color was changed to purple.
  • Any female sprite that is shown winking was modified for the International release. In the International version the sprites do not wink.
  • The Beauty's skirt was lengthened.
  • Blacky is renamed to Umbreon since it sounds too racist.
