MegaMan NT Warrior, known as Rockman.EXE (ロックマンエグゼ Rokkuman Eguze) in Japan, is the first season of the Japanese animated series based on the Mega Man Battle Network video game series. It loosely covers the events of Mega Man Battle Network 1, 2, and 3, though it heavily diverges from the source material in terms of how events are played out and when they happen (ie. the N1 Grand Prix, an event from BN3, happening before Gospel becomes a threat, the main antagonist organization of BN2). In Japan, the first season ran for 56 episodes, while the English dub ran for 52, skipping four episodes during its run. It is split into two parts, known as “First Area” and “Second Area” in Japan, with the Second Area starting with episode 27.
USA Censorship[]
In the English dubbed of Mega Man NT Warrior, all swords and Sword battle chips were censored to resemble lightsabers to make them look duller and censor any graphic slicing.
In the episode Working for Grave, Maddy wears a bikini that shows off her body. This was edited in the English dub to cover more of her chest and her breasts were drawn to remove much of her cleavage.
All romantic implications between Lan and Maylu, including Lan and Princess Pride, were removed from the English dub.
In the episode Ice Ice Baby!, the severity of the injury in Dr. Froid's hand was reduced.
MegaMan NT Warrior: Axess[]
MegaMan NT Warrior: Axess is essentially MegaMan NT Warrior's second series run, based off of RockMan.EXE Axess in Japan.
The second series is notorious for its increased censorship on KidsWB in the United States, even for prime time syndicated television and children's programming. It is believed that due to these changes, along with low viewership and complaints lead to the RockMan.EXE anime series under Viz Media to not be pursued for further publication into the United States and cancelled the series on KidsWB.
