Manhunt is a horror video game that was developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. The video game was first released in North America for the PlayStation 2 on November 19, 2003. Xbox and Windows versions were released in the following year. The game was banned in various countries around the world due to the game's violent content. The sequel, Manhunt 2, was also subject to distribution restrictions around the world.

  • The game was banned in 2004 after its initial MA/MA15+ ratings were reviewed due to pressure from a number of Australian politicians. In a 3-1 ruling, the game was refused classification due to high levels of violence.[1]

German censorship[]

  • Germany banned the game in 2005, subjecting imported copies to confiscation due to high-impact gory violence.[1]

Malaysian censorship[]

  • Malaysia banned the game because of the games intense violence.

New Zealand censorship[]

  • New Zealand banned the game because of extreme violence and offensive depictions of cruelty. After a re-examination in 2023, it was decided to lift the ban and release the game with a R18 rating.[1]

Saudi Arabian censorship[]

  • Saudi Arabia banned the game because of high impact scary violence and cruelty.

South Korean censorship[]

  • South Korea banned the game because of the games intense violence.

Where to find it uncensored[]

The game was uncensored in every other country where it became available.
