Malta is a Southern European country which practices Christianity.

Blasphemy against the Roman Catholic church was illegal in Malta[1]. However, the law was overturned in 2016[2].

  • A Clockwork Orange - This film was banned in Malta between 1972 and 2000.[3]
  • Raid on Entebbe - This film was personally banned from screening by Prime Minister Dom Mintoff, who claimed that the film promoted violence against an independent nation. It was allegedly banned on a personal request from Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.[4]
  • The Last Temptation of Christ - This film was banned for blasphemous content. The video release was withdrawn as well.[5]
