Léon: The Professional is a French English-language action thriller film directed by Luc Besson, produced by Les Films du Dauphin and distributed by Gaumont Buena Vista International. The movie was released on September 14, 1994. The film was censored when it aired in theaters in order to make the film appeal more to an American audience. The uncut version did poorly in test screenings in America which is what caused the theatrical release to be censored. An uncensored version called the International version would later be released and air in French theaters. The censored theatrical cut was formerly available for streaming on HBO Max.
