  • A black shadow covers half of Jotaro's face every time he smokes, due to underage smoking being unacceptable in Japanese TV.
    • It's worth noting that Jotaro's age was established in the manga as 17 year-old by the author Hirohiko Araki during the Part 3: Stardust Crusaders arc).
  • Black shadows are used to cover gore and organs, just like in the anime adaptations of the Part 1: Phantom Blood and Part 2: Battle Tendencies manga arcs.
  • Compared to the initial 1991 prints of the manga, the 1993 OVA and HFTF, the anime followed the later reprints: the scenes set in Cairo had the scenery modified, such as during the scene of the fight between Kakyoin and DIO, where the minaret was replaced with a steel tower, the nearby mosque tower destroyed during fight was replaced with a generic castle-like tower and the scene where a minaret had its top falling apart was changed to a billboard. These changes were made by Araki after an in May 2008, both studio A.P.P.P. and Shueisha halted OVA/manga shipments of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure after a complaint had been launched against them from Egyptian Islamic fundamentalists, after noticing a scene in the OVAs that had the villain, DIO, reading a book depicting pages from the Qur'an while vowing to kill Jotaro (the animators intended to make him read a text in Arabic to fit the Egypt setting and did not realise that the text was the Quran[1]). This recall affected the English-language release of the manga as well, causing Viz Media and Shueisha to cease publication for a year. Even though the manga did not feature that specific scene (DIO was just reading a generic book in the manga), Shueisha had Araki redraw scenes that depicted characters fighting on top of, and destroying, mosques. Viz resumed publication a year later, with the eleventh volume being published on 7 April 2009, though distribution of the OVA had been permanently cancelled[2].
