Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a Japanese RPG that was developed by Rabbit and Bear Studios and published by 505 Games. The video game was released on April 23, 2024. The Western localizations were made very politically correct, making them considerably different from the original Japanese text.

International censorship[]

Due to the political motivation of the English localization team, many lines of dialogue spoken by characters were made very politically correct. This caused issues for some players playing the localized version of the game. Some examples of dialogue that were significantly altered include:

Significantly different localizations from literal translation
Character Japanese Translation Localization
Milana 力任せ。 Leave it to me. *Sigh* Another muscle-brained chud.
Nowa やったぞ!! We did it! Got him!
Mio しかし、このデカ物は何だ? But what is this huge thing? You sure it's a he?

The word "chud" is a derogatory term to refer to someone on the political right. Gender politics were mentioned in the localization. The examples above show that the localization team is injecting identity politics, which is not present in the original Japanese dialogue (and by extension, the Japanese video game industry).[1] The political motivation of the localization team makes its English translation considered to be one of the worst ever by many players.

Where to find it uncensored[]

Play in Japanese for the uncensored version, as many of the other Western translations are based on the English localization, bringing their politics with them.
