Doom is a first-person shooting video game that was developed and published by id Software. The video game was first released for PCs in the United States on December 10, 1993. Due to Nintendo's policies at the time, ports of the game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) / Super Famicom and Game Boy Advance (GBA) were censored. The PC release was also censored in Germany due to laws that banning the use of Nazi symbols.

SNES/Super Famicom[]

  • Blood was removed.

Game Boy Advance[]

The GBA release was censored in order to get a lower age rating

  • Blood was recolored green.
  • Enemies no longer can be blown up and turn into a cloud of blood.
  • You can no longer find mutilated corpses and impaled corpses throughout the game.
  • Swastikas were removed.

German censorship[]

PC[]

  • Swastikas were removed in the German version 1.4 patch.

Where to find it uncensored[]

German-language PC versions before patch 1.4 were uncensored. PC versions in other territories are uncensored.
