Andi Mack is an American family comedy-drama television series created by Terri Minsky that aired on Disney Channel from April 7, 2017 to July 26, 2019. The series stars Peyton Elizabeth Lee as 13-year-old Andi Mack who attends middle school with her best friends, Cyrus Goodman and Buffy Driscoll. It is the first series on Disney Channel to feature a gay main character, Cyrus Goodman, a distinction that has drawn considerable media attention and was reported in the news as being historic. However, this had led it to being banned in Kenya, Southeast Asia, and other countries that prohibit homosexuality.

Post-production edits[]

After actor Stoney Westmoreland was arrested in 2018 for a sex offense, he was fired by Disney and his role as Andi's grandfather Henry "Ham" Mack was edited out of unaired episodes of the third and final season. Westmoreland was found guilty and sentenced to prison in 2022.[1]

Kenyan censorship[]

The series was banned in Kenya due to featuring a gay character.[2]

Southeast Asia censorship[]

The series never aired in Southeast Asia due to a gay main character.
