Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is a remaster of Age of Empires II that was developed by Forgotten Empires and published by Xbox Game Studios. The video game was first released for Windows on November 14, 2019, to be followed by versions for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on January 31, 2023.

  • Blood effects were toned down when compared to the original game and the HD Edition.
  • Death cries were mostly removed due to a bug.
  • The El Dorado campaign was removed due to colonialism and was replaced by the Pachacuti campaign. However, the El Dorado campaign can still be played as a custom campaign.
  • Corpses of dead units no longer decompose and blood is no longer on corpses.
  • The Kaesong campaign was removed due to "time constraints".
  • The Saxon Revolt camapign was removed due to it covering the Massacre of Verden.

Where to find it uncensored[]

The HD Edition and the original Age of Empires II are uncensored.
